SHIIP Counseling

SHIIP Counseling is available by appointment. Seniors going on Medicare or Medicare recipients who need assistance should call 336-667-5281 to schedule an appointment. You may also call the SHIIP line in Raleigh at 855-408-1212.


Tax Preparation

Taxes are prepared by Volunteers using the AARP Tax Program on Monday's and Thursday's during Feb, March and part of April. We E-file. There is no charge for this service. Call 336-667-5281 in 2023 to schedule a drop-off or face to face appointment. Remember, you will need to pick up a packet for completion prior to your scheduled appointment time.

Yoga Class
This class is designed to enhance well-being and improve specific conditions of aging populations through the comprehensive and individualized practice of yoga.

Line Dancing
Line Dance is a very popular form of exercise at Wilkes Senior Resources. Instructor Freda DeGruchy teaches on Monday evenings, and instructor Jene Yarborough teaches on Wednesday afternoons. We invite you to come out and join in the fun, and get your exercise at the same time!

Billiards
The Billiard tables, located in our Library, are very popular with the guys. The group meets Monday thru Friday between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Fitness Room
Our fitness room is one of the most popular areas at Wilkes Senior Resources. It is open Monday - Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Come by for a tour and check out our treadmills, stationary bikes, and more! Don't let the weather keep you from staying fit!

Mission Statement:
The mission of Wilkes Senior Resources is to provide services, education and information that promote quality of life and active aging for seniors

We are committed to providing older adults access to continued education, activity, and the tools that will allow for these to be some of the best years of their lives.

We have a vision for a "Senior Center without walls", which means that we are actively taking the heart of the senior center out into our community
